The better solution, described here, is for the manufacturer to implement an INF file that contains the correct EDID info, and have the customer download it to the computer that is connected to the monitor. Windows extracts the updated EDID information from the INF and provides it to components instead of using the EEPROM EDID information. You probably don't need years of training to edit an edid. All of the default ones for 4K/60 on my NVx (encoding an Arris 4K cable box) do not work on any d30 decoder/ 4K TV. Only 4K 30 seems to work.
